This Remembrance Day, a special community project is taking shape along the waterfront in Hubbards.
At the cenotaph at the Hubbards Cove Marina, a striking display of handcrafted poppies will honour the men and women who served and sacrificed for our freedom. At the heart of the display will be a beautiful white dove, representing peace, created from poppies. Beneath the dove, a cascade of red poppies will flow downward, symbolizing the blood that was spilled so future generations could live in peace. Additional elements are being planned for the installation, but these will remain a surprise until the display is unveiled.
To bring this vision to life, we need the help of our community.
Whether you are an experienced crocheter or knitter, or simply looking for a meaningful way to contribute, we invite you to create red poppies for the display. Every poppy will become part of a collective tribute, made with gratitude, remembrance, and community spirit.
Completed poppies can be dropped off at the Hubbards Area Lions Club. The cost of yarn will be reimbursed by the Hubbards Area Lions Club upon drop-off with a receipt.
Together, we can create a lasting tribute that honours our veterans, remembers their sacrifices, and demonstrates the strength and heart of our community.
