Enjoy a family-friendly event featuring an address by Mayor Elspeth Wile on coastal protection, piping plover viewing, and interactive workshops with Birds Canada, Helping Nature Heal, the Ecology Action Centre, and CPAWS. Light lunch available. $15 lunch fee.

The event is part of a province-wide Coastal Appreciation Week. Doors open at 10:45 a.m. for guests to find their seats while enjoying the sounds of waves and aerial views of Hirtles Beach, Gaff Point, and the Mouth of the LaHave River Estuary. The program begins at 11 a.m. with an opening introduction and Mi’kmaq welcome, followed by presentations from the Ecology Action Centre, the Canadian Parks and Lunch of soup and sandwiches will be served from 12–1 p.m. Visitors can also enjoy a driftwood sculpture garden, microscope viewing of live ocean life, community-gleaned ocean artifacts, and information tables from participating organizations. The event concludes at 4 p.m.
