The Hammonds Plains community is once again coming together to support cancer research at this year’s Terry Fox Run on Sunday, September 20th at 21 Deepwood Drive in Highland Park subdivision (Deepwood Baseball Field).
Participants are invited to arrive at 8:30 am for sign-in (please pre-register online), with the run officially beginning at 9 am. Everyone is welcome to walk, run, roll, or cheer on participants as we continue Terry Fox’s dream of a world without cancer.
The morning promises to be fun for the whole family, featuring music by DJ Sneaky B, face painting, visits from Little Princess Parties, and light snacks and refreshments following the run.
In keeping with Terry Fox’s wishes, there is no registration fee and no fundraising minimum. While fundraising is encouraged, participation is what matters most, raising awareness for cancer research.
About Terry Fox
In 1980, after losing his right leg to bone cancer, Terry Fox began his remarkable Marathon of Hope, running the equivalent of a marathon every day across Canada to raise awareness and funds for cancer research. Although his journey was cut short after 143 days when his cancer returned, Terry inspired a nation and left behind a legacy that continues today. The annual Terry Fox Run has raised more than $1 billion worldwide for cancer research, making it one of the largest volunteer-led fundraising events of its kind.
We have a goal to raise $6,200 this year!Thanks to the incredible support of our community, $2,200 has already been raised!
Official Terry Fox T-shirts are available for purchase through the run organizers, with proceeds going directly to cancer research. Shirts will also be available to purchase on the day of!
