As summer begins, Nova Scotia RCMP would like to share some tips to help you relax, explore, and spend time with family and friends safely this summer.
Drive sober
- Plan your ride before going to family gatherings, community events, parties, or beach days.
- Choose a designated driver, taxi, rideshare, or another safe way home.
- Alcohol, cannabis, or drugs and driving do not mix.
Protect your vehicle and belongings
- Lock your vehicle, even for short stops.
- Keep valuables out of sight or leave them at home.
- Never leave keys, wallets, phones, or electronics unattended in your vehicle, at the beach, park, or anywhere else.
Look out for each other
- Keep an eye on children, friends, and the rest of your group.
- Report unsafe or suspicious activity.
- If you need police, call us. In an emergency, call 911.
Keep access clear
- Park only in designated areas.
- Do not block roads, lanes, driveways, gates, or access points.
- Emergency vehicles need to have clear access at all times; clear access can save lives.
Make it a great day!
- Follow posted signs and local regulations.
- Respect other beachgoers, nearby residents, and the environment.
- Take your garbage with you and leave the beach better than you found it.
