When you arrive at Chester Yacht Club, you’re greeted with a spectacular oceanside setting. Yes, it’s a private club, but many activities are open to the public.
Starting with the young: a popular summer-long Junior Sailing Day camp is open to all ages and skills. Funding is available through Pro Kids via the Municipality of Chester. The program has produced national, international and Olympic sailors, teaching self-sufficiency, confidence and problem solving.
For adults: CYC offers an Adult Learn to Sail evening program. No experience needed — runs Mon & Wed from 5:30-7:30 in July and August.
July 1st is a fun event open to anyone, with live music, a BBQ, scavenger hunt & more!
Mid-July features the popular Little Black Dress ladies night: nibblies, wine, a fashion show and vendors. This fundraiser benefits Shoreham Village Seniors Assoc. and the Junior Sailing Bursary. Sells out quickly — get tickets early!
CYC hosts the second annual Poker Run, open to all boaters. Race from shore to islands collecting cards for the best poker hand!
August brings Chester Race Week — Canada’s largest keelboat regatta, open to the public for racing and social activities. Daily music on the deck, evening entertainment, food trucks & more!
January 1st is the ever-popular polar swim.
The club is available for public rental — weddings, celebrations of life, private parties & more. Occasional dances are also open to the public.
Should you choose to become a member, there is no wait list and various membership levels are available. New member half-price discount June 5-12, with a new members social June 12th.
The club features a lounge with fireplace, bar, member-priced food, oceanfront veranda, tender service, mooring field, dock access, crane use and beach access.
Members enjoy Tuesday and Thursday BBQs, Friday cocktail receptions, island beach parties, afternoon tea, book club, speaker series, off-season potlucks, mooring rentals and kayak storage.
Non-members may attend membership events up to three times per year when signed in by a member. Curious? Reach out to any member for a visit.
